Project Title: Ayta Community Development – Botolan, Zambales
Date: 2018
Community development initiative; exact project date and duration not confirmed.
Project Description:
The Rotary Club of Makati Business District (RCMBD) supported a community development initiative for the Ayta community of Botolan, Zambales, in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Makati North. Rotary Club of Makati North had been working with the Botolan LAKAS Ayta community since 1992 and described the 2018 initiative as supporting the Ayta Project of RCMBD.
The project focused on longer-term community development rather than a single outreach activity. Activities associated with the partnership included support for Ayta families and children and the development of community facilities. In 2018, Rotary Club of Makati North specifically identified a Day Care Center Project with the Rotary Club of Makati Business District as part of its continuing work with the Ayta community in Botolan.
The initiative built on decades of Rotary involvement in the area following the displacement and disruption experienced by Ayta communities around Mt. Pinatubo. The broader Rotary program in Botolan has included education, school assistance, community facilities, livelihood and technology-related initiatives.
Who Will Benefit From This Project?
Ayta families and children in the Botolan LAKAS community, Botolan, Zambales, particularly children who would benefit from improved educational and community facilities. The exact number of beneficiaries has not been confirmed in the available records.
